The Salmo Watershed Streamkeepers Society is celebrating the collaborative efforts on the latest remediation work.
Crews with the BC Crown Contaminated Sites Program are creating a single consolidated site to bury various tailings from the old Howard Mine mill south of Ymir.
Society coordinator Gerry Nellestijn says a win-win trade-off sees his organisation identify fill for the landfill while the excavation helps create wetlands.

The engineered cover will go over the special landfill and involves some tree removal.
The Nelson-Salmo trail in the area will be closed for about a week.
