Information Officer Noelle Kekula says a guard ploughed with heavy machinery remains a contingency plan should the fire direction change towards the communities of Slocan Park and crescent valley.
60 firefighters, six helicopters and 19 support crew are involved.
Almost 50 homes remain on evacuation alert but the fire is centred on the mountain ridge and has not been heading downwards.
The most recent fire behavior has been described as Rank 3 – which is around 1.5 metres and 3-metres a minute.
