Residents of Slocan Park and Crescent Valley in the vicinity of a wildfire burning on the east side of the valley are on Evacuation Alert.
Regional Fire Chief Terry Swan says the RDCK made the announcement Monday night at the request of the South East Fire Centre.
Swan says they are monitoring the situation and want residents to be prepared in case the situation worsens.
They are being advised to pack some belongings in case of evacuation and those with livestock are asked to move their animals to a safe location.
Swan adds two helicopters and a 20 man team are battling the fire and two water tankers are scheduled to be added to the effort Tuesday.
