School trustees try to kick start teacher impasse solution

BC’s school trustees are trying to be a mediating force in getting a resolution to the ongoing teacher labour dispute.

They’re calling it their “back to school action plan” which features three key points.

Kootenay Columbia board Chair Darrel Ganzert says they want teachers to modify their benefit increase demands to fall within the range of other public sectors.

And in turn government should commit to putting any savings accrued from the strike into the learning improvement fund.

Ganzert says the third part of the plan is for all sides to establish an new bargaining and labour relations structure.
