Teachers union rep reacts to parent subsidy offer

The president of the Kootenay Columbia Teachers Union says government is trying to sew more division with their latest move around the ongoing strike.

Andy Davidoff says offering parents $40 a day if schools remain closed in September is driving a wedge between teachers and parents.

He wonders who’s money it is anyway?

Finance Minister Mike de Jong says the $12 million government saves each day of the strike will go to parents of kids under 13 to spend on daycare or tutoring.
