A recent survey issued by the Regional District of Central Kootenay shows nearly two-thirds of respondents would support proposed upgrades to the Castlegar Rec Complex.
About 1,200 homes in Castlegar, Area I and Area J responded to the survey.
It asked residents if they’ll support the upgrades if the proposal goes to a referendum.
Area I residents narrowly voted against with 49% supportive and 51% against it.
Area J had 67% support while 63% of Castlegar respondents pledged support.
The total was 62% saying “yes” and 38% “no”.
The planned upgrades include adding a second sheet of ice, expansions for the fitness and aquatic areas and the creation of a social hub.
