Graduation rates are trending upwards in the Kootenay-Columbia School District.
The Ministry of Education has released graduation rates over the past five years for school districts across the province.
SD 20’s rate has climbed from 84% in the 2012-13 school year to 93% last year.
The rate also climbed for Aboriginal students from 72% five years ago to 88% in 2016-17.
Superintendent Bill Ford says the district has worked hard to increase completion rates.
Rates for special needs students also climbed over the last five years from 69 per cent to 88 per cent.
Ford says SD 20’s education experience draws from a number of different areas and interactions.
Ford says the numbers reflect a lot of hard work on the part of the board, teachers, students, staff and parents.
BC’s completion rate is 84%.
There were 279 graduates in SD 20 last year.
