Wildfire on edge of Kokanee Glacier Park

The skies around Kootenay Lake heading out towards Kaslo are pretty busy as air tankers tackle some new wildfires.

A 10 hectare lightning-caused blaze and a few other smaller ones are burning in the mountains near the edge of Kokanee Glacier Park.

Here’s fire information officer Jordan Turner.


There are plans underway to get ground crews in.

Also a cluster of new lightning-caused fires are burning on the east side of the Lower Arrow lake west of Castlegar.

Turner says they are small and are being contained.
