RDCK formally lifts Johnsons Landing Evacuation Order

Property owners who want to risk re-building at the landslide site at Johnsons Landing will need to spend money on specialist advice.

That’s the word from RDCK CAO Brian Carruthers now that the Evacuation Order following the 2012 disaster is being lifted.


It’s not known how many of the 16 property owners directly effected by the deadly slide will ever re-build.

Although there is no imminent danger experts say another major slide could happen and Carruthers adds in the high hazard zone it’s unlikely any construction would be possible.
