CRA scam hits Castlegar

Don’t be fooled by people calling your phone who claim to be Canadian Revenue Agency representatives, especially if they are threatening you with arrest.

Another CRA scam is making the rounds and a Castlegar resident has been duped out of $1,200.

Castlegar RCMP Sgt. Laurel Mathew says the individual was told to purchase that amount in Steam fast cards for video games and to provide the bar codes to a phoney CRA rep.

Mathew says the CRA will never send officers to arrest anybody.

She adds these scams happen with gift cards from any number of stores.
