The City of Castlegar has approved an extension of its lot line consolidation program.
When the city implemented a parcel tax in 2016 it was discovered that some properties have more than one parcel, forcing some residents to pay the tax more than once.
Councillor Florio Vassilakakis says city introduced a lot line consolidation program so those who live on more than one parcel only pay the tax once.
The program has been extended until the end of this year.
The city hopes to change the community charter’s definition of “parcel” so it bears the same meaning as when its used by BC Assessment.
The idea is being brought to the Association of Kootenay Boundary Local Governments.
