NPD seeking Restorative Justice Program volunteers

A number of volunteers are being lined up for the Nelson Police Department’s Restorative Justice Program, but they’re looking for more.
Intensive training will start next month .
The concept brings perpetrator and victim together rather than the matter going through the courts.
Coordinator Gerry Sobie say they have an excellent and varied pool of people so far.
But he’d like to have another ten people to become part of an initiative he says can make Nelson an even better place.
The program offers the chance for first-time offenders to turn their lives around as long as they accept responsibility for their actions.
