College of the Rockies offering Avalanche Skills Training

This time of year can be dangerous for avalanhces in our area.

College of the Rockies instructor Dave Quinn is hoping to pass on some avalanche safety skills.

He says there are three key things that everyone needs when in the mountains.

And highlights the importance of awareness.

He adds large groups and familiarity with an area can create an overconfidence and social pressure that lead to accidents.

Quinn will be teaching the course at the Creston campus of the college on January 20th.
