UPDATED: Defibrillator donated to Castlegar Legion

Castlegar’s Trowelex Rentals and Sales and the family of one of its employees have donated a defibrillator to the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 170.

Rob Planidin says his boss at Trowelex heard he was donating the unit and he wanted to help so they split the cost.

Planidin says it’s important to have the unit there as the health centre closes at 8:00 pm and there can be long waits for ambulances.

They presented the defibrillator to the Legion Tuesday night.

The president of Castlegar’s Legion says their members were surprised with the donation.

Bob Brommeland says they’re very thankful to the Planidin family and Trowelex Rentals and Sales for donating the unit.

Brommeland says he’s happy it’s there but hopes it never needs to be used.
