Monday’s crash between Blueberry and Fairview on Highway 22 sent two people to hospital.
A 79-year-old man driving a Nissan Quest travelling north entered the southbound lane and hit a Kia Sportage driven by a 54-year-old woman.
Castlegar fire chief Sam Lattanzio says they arrived on scene shortly after 5:00 pm.
Lattanzio says traffic was shut down from around 5:00 pm – 9:00 pm.
The man is said to be in critical condition, the woman is stable.
Castlegar RCMP are investigating the cause of the accident.
Alcohol is not considered a factor.
