A crash between Blueberry and Fairview on Highway 22 Monday afternoon sent two people to hospital.
RCMP say a 79-year-old man driving a Nissan Quest entered the southbound lane and hit a Kia Sportage driven by a 54-year-old woman.
The Castlegar fire department used the jaws of life to get the woman out.
The man is in critical condition and the woman in stable condition.
A third vehicle was involved but only had its mirror struck and the driver wasn’t injured.
The accident happened just after 5 p.m. and the highway was closed until just before 9 p.m.
