The Swim to Survive program at the Trail Aquatic and Leisure Centre has received the 125th Royal Life Saving Society’s Commonwealth Service Certificate.
It goes to organizations and people who help prevent drownings.
Aquatic coordinator Gabby Kravski says the program serves a great purpose.
The first to test the waters with the program were Grades 3 and 7 students from Fruitvale Elementary School.
The program proved popular with them and is now offered to all students through the aquatic centre.
