A program which has been fostering habitat creation and ecosystem protection in the Pend d’Oreille is entering its sixth and final year.
The Waneta Terrestrial Compensation Program is accepting applications for funds for projects in the area.
Eligible projects include inventories of plants and species, weed control and habitat creation.
Successful applicants can receive up to $50,000 in funds for qualified projects.
Among the program’s successes was last year’s discovery of a bee species which had never before been seen in BC.
Applications must be submitted by January 31st.
