Slocan Valley wildfires about half contained

The two wildfires burning in the mountains near the Slocan Valley are about 50% contained.

Here’s Jordan Turner with the South East Fire Centre.


Both blazes are well away from people and property.

Turner says efforts have been helped by cooler temperatures and some rain …with more in the forecast.

But lightning is also expected for mid week so that may bring fresh concerns.

The two fires – in remote areas to the east of Highway 6 – are lightning caused and came to life following high winds a number of days after last week’s storms.
