Hospital Board's mandate should be questioned: RDCK Director

The mandate of our region’s Hospital Board should be questioned.
This was one of the many responses to a recent questionnaire seeking input on health care issues around our West Kootenay Boundary region.
The Board’s current role is to approve or dismiss an annual list of capital needs put forward by Interior Health – local taxpayers then foot 40% of the bill.
But Director for Area E Ramona Faust endorses the view that the Board have more meaningful input on how those capital investments – like ct scanners – are operated.
She says funding for capital health care investments needs to be spread fairly over the region among smaller and larger centres.
