The Castlegar Fire Department wants to make sure you stay fire smart over the long weekend.
Chief Sam Lattanzio says you need to always be aware of your surroundings.

Lattanzio says they’ve given out three warnings about campfires since the ban took effect last month but the grace period is over and if you have a fire you’ll likely be fined.
He adds you should make sure you park your vehicle away from tall grass.
