The white substance that spilled into Kootenay Lake Monday came from the Nelson curling club.
The Ministry of Environment says the club drained its ice surface to a storm drain.
The white colour was from paint used to cover the rink floor.
Although not believed to be hazardous the ministry is trying to determine if there was any impact.
