Spotlight on Selkirk woodworking students at Capitol

Some of the latest upgrades to the City of Nelson’s Capitol Theatre came courtesy of Selkirk College’s fine woodworking program.

Students donated their time to help put together the new look and cabinets of the greenroom – where make-up and costume changes are done.

And the Capitol’s Executive Director Stephanie Fisher adds the theatre’s new solid wooden front entrance way was built by a Selkirk woodworking graduate.

The theatre – which seats up to 30,000 people a year – has had H-VAC system and lobby improvements in recent months.

Work on the orchestra pit and loading area is also planned.
