Invasive fish causing concerns for Columbia River groups

An invasive fish in the Columbia River was the subject of a meeting hosted in Castlegar this week by the Columbia Basin Trust.

The northern pike was first discovered in our waters in 2009.

Fisheries biologist Crystal Lawrence says a suppression program launched in 2014 has helped remove 300 of them.

Groups from both sides of the border with interest in the Columbia River attended the meeting.
