Special funding only for tidying existing Christmas lights

The touchy subject of the Christmas lights in Nelson has come up again.
Council says the local volunteer group who’ve put up them up on Baker Street have done an awesome job.
But they can’t continue until a designer creates a proper long-term plan.
Here’s Councillor Paula Kiss.
There are concerns about the general look and with power outlets going in trees that will create maintenance costs down the road.
The City says in-kind City labour and another thousand dollars from a special fund can only be used for tidying up what’s already there.
