Trail expansion area businesses okay with move

As expected the City of Trail has received what appears to be near unanimous support from Columbia Gardens business owners for the proposed boundary expansion.

Only one of the 50-plus people who own businesses in RDKB Area A wrote to the city saying they’d prefer the status quo.

Businesses will see reduced taxes if trail acquires the land.

Meanwhile Monday is the deadline for Trail electors to formally object to the move.

Still outstanding is the need for Trail and the RDKB to negotiate financial compensation for the loss of funding for services in the Beaver Valley that has been provided by the industrial tax base.
