Sweltering Civic Theatre soon a thing of the past

The Nelson Civic Theatre is making changes to provide a cooler space for moviegoers this summer.

Preparation work has started on the new air conditioning as crews are in the facility’s rafters completing duct work with the hope of installing the device next week with electric work to follow.

Here’s theatre manager Jason Asbell.

Asbell says there is no exact date set for when the air conditioner will be up and running.

The Theatre Society secured a $50,000 grant for the upgrades that will also improve the concession area.
