The old church at 2528 Columbia Avenue in Castlegar is being repurposed as a short-term residential treatment facility.
Councillor Sue Heaton-Sherstobitoff says the building will also see its footprint increased by 87 square meters.
Axis Family Resources is installing eight withdrawal beds in the building
They should be ready in March.
