Trail Skills Centre takes stance on poverty reduction

The Trail Skills Centre and Selkirk College are supporting a poverty reduction strategy.

Their “Surviving, Not Thriving” report covers everything from income and employment to food, housing, transportation and more for the Lower Columbia region.

Skills Centre executive director Jan Morton says housing is one of the bigger problems.

More than 20% of all households in the Lower Columbia region are in “housing need,” and more than 60% of those households are in Trail.
