Last night Castlegar city council approved a pilot project to allow backyard beekeeping.
Only certain residents will qualify for the project which will start March 1.
Councillor Deb McIntosh says those who participate will be monitored by the province.
There are strict guidelines beekeepers must follow to ensure the bugs don’t disturb their neighbours.
