A Trail city councillor is adamantly opposed to the city’s new bylaw which outlaws smoking in some public areas.
Robert Cacchioni feels the city’s gentle approach to enforcement could lead to a stigma of public shaming for those who don’t follow the rules.
The city has stated they will encourage a positive message to ensure everyone follows protocol.
Signage will be posted in areas where smoking is prohibited.
