School districts get $50 million to hire teachers

The province is dividing $50 million among school districts to hire more teachers.

Kootenay-Columbia Teachers Union president Andy Davidoff says they’ll likely find out in a few days exactly how much money SD-20 will get.

Davidoff says they’ll try to have new teachers in place by February in time for the second semester.

The funding is a response to a Supreme Court of Canada decision restoring provisions in the teachers’ collective agreement.
