Flu outbreak hits local care centres

A pair of residential care facilities in our region have a flu outbreak.

They’re Talarico Place in Castlegar and Poplar Ridge in Trail.

Pamela de Bruin with Interior Health says such cases are common this time of year.

She says immunization is the best form of prevention.

Overall 17 facilities in Interior Health have outbreaks and it’s been linked to up to 15 deaths.
