A shih tzu was the subject of a coordinated rescue by the Castlegar and Ootischenia fire departments.
Castlegar deputy fire chief Sam Lattanzio says the dog was in a vehicle which slid down an embankment on Highway 3.
The Ootischenia department handled traffic.
He says the dog was shaken up but happy to be reunited with its owner.
Nobody was hurt.
