Armed robberies: more charges to be laid next month

More charges against the couple alleged to have been involved in armed robberies in our region are expected to be brought next month.

In Nelson court Monday Crown counsel said charges related to another four robberies were likely to be heard July 2nd.

Andrew Stevenson – who remains in custody, and partner Krista Kalmikoff – who is out on bail- are already facing charges related to the armed robberies of the Nelson Credit Union and Kootenay Currency Exchange.

They’re also charged with break and enters at two pharmacies in Castlegar.

Credit Unions in Salmo and Castlegar, a store in Robson, and a pharmacy were also robbed.

Kalmikoff’s lawyer wants a trial date set for his client as soon as possible .

But in ongoing preliminary matters in Nelson court Crown counsel told the judge there was such a large amount of investigative information connected to all the incidents that they need more time.
