RDCK purchasing policy still in spotlight

The hoo-hah around the RDCK’s recent decision to go out of area for an office furniture contract is still simmering.

Area I Director Andy Davidoff says the whole issue resulted in him getting more calls from his residents than any other.

They now want to know how much of the RD’s $24 million annual spend comes back to them in local purchases or services.

Davidoff says perhaps only purchases up to $5,000 should be free from bidding.

He says a $10,000 spend for a mom and pop business in Area I would be a big deal.

But other RD Directors says it’s time to let it go, and thinking locally means thinking regionally …not around the corner.
