Settlement reached in Kootenay Savings dispute

Kootenay Savings and its unionized employees have reached a tentative agreement.

In a joint release today, they announced both sides are recommending acceptance of the terms of a new collective agreement.

Details aren’t being released until the agreement has been ratified although it’s not know exactly when that will happen.

United Steelworkers staff rep Dean Lott says the parties quietly returned to the bargaining table this week.

CEO Brent Tremblay says he’s very happy to have a settlement.

Workers have been walking the picket line since the end of October.

Pension protection language and wages were the major issues.
