The province has approved funding for four West Kootenay housing projects. They are:
- A dozen seniors units in Slocan through the Slocan Valley Seniors Housing Society.
- Nine seniors units at 216 7th Ave. NW in Nakusp through the Arrowtarian Senior Citizens Society.
- 48 units where the Nelson CARES Society plans to renovate and expand an old motel on Nelson Ave. for seniors, adults with disabilities, homeless, and homeless at risk.
- Nine units at 849 Erickson road in Creston for children and adults with developmental delays through the Kootenay Region Association for Community Living.
Overall, the province has approved $516 million for 68 projects representing over 2,900 new housing units.
Dollar figures associated with each local project have not yet been announced.
