Concerning findings in homelessness report

Too many seniors in the Queen City need to use food banks and youth need a safe shelter..
The sixth annual report by the Nelson Committee on Homelessness found 25% of all visits last year were by seniors struggling to get by on the state pension.
Also 7% of high school students have a young friend who needed to couch surf with them last year.
Committee Co-Chair Cheryl Dowden says there needs to be a youth emergency shelter because Cicada Place has only limited youth housing.
The Committee is challenging the community to call on all levels of government to increase the amount of affordable housing.
