Local search teams plucked a 19-year-old woman from a rock face behind Waneta Plaza on Saturday.
South Columbia Search and Rescue’s Mike Hudson says she got stuck there during a hike but had a cell phone.
Search teams from Castlegar and Rossland also joined in the difficult rope rescue that took about five hours.
They didn’t end up needing a helicopter from 442 Squadron that was on stand by.
