Nelson has its first water ambassador

Nelson’s first ever “water smart” ambassador is on the streets.
University student Melinda Halstead – who hails from the Queen City – will be doing her part to politely chat with residents about their water use.
It’s part of a Columbia Basin Trust initiative.
She’ll be armed with a probe that can show residents just how much water they need for their lawn and garden soil.
As the City looks at conservation they say lawns only need 3-centimetres of water sprinkling – or a total of one hour – a week.
