Tense stand-off after Nakusp rampage

It was quite the scene in Nakusp earlier this week with RCMP trying to arrest a mentally disturbed man who went on a rampage.

On Monday the 38 year old smashed a car with a shovel and then tossed large rocks through windows of a house.

When police traced him to his home he barricaded himself in, told police he had a gun and then doused his deck with gasoline.

The neighbours were evacuated and it took two and a half hours of talks to encourage the man to give himself up.

He appeared in court Wednesday and has been sent for psychiatric evaluation.
