New Commander for Greater Trail RCMP

Greater Trail RCMP’s new detachment Commander is a familiar face.

Sgt Darren Oelke has been on the job since April 28th after spending eight years in Prince George.

Before that, he worked for 13 years patrolling in Castlegar, Nelson and Trail.

Oelke’s wife is also a Mountie who recently got a job in the forensics section in Nelson.

He has spent the majority of his career in plain clothes and jokes it’s a strange feeling wearing a uniform now.
