Mediation begins in Kootenay Savings dispute

It’s back to the bargaining table today for Kootenay Savings and its unionized employees.

Mediator Dave Schuab will try to help the two sides reach a new collective agreement when they meet in Trail.

The union has voted more than 96 per cent in favour of a strike.

The key sticking points are pension protection language and a two-year wage freeze.

The affected branches include Castlegar, Trail, Fruitvale, Salmo, South Slocan, and Kaslo.
