Students from Castlegar who visited Embetsu, Japan spoke about their experience to city council this week.
The visit was part of an exchange program between Castlegar and Embetsu, students spent a few weeks there over the summer.
Program coordinator Yuri Kutschera says the program was established in the ’90s.
She says it’s often a life-changing experience for those who take part.
