Tadanac evacuation among Teck’s mock-emergency exercises

Teck Trail had a number of agencies on hand to take part in real-time mock disaster exercises to prepare for potential emergencies.

The simulation involved a derailment of a rail car which collided with vehicles, a release of ammonia gas from the rail car and an evacuation of Tadanac.

This was just an exercise and no actual ammonia was released.

Teck also notes that the incident which was simulated has never actually happened there.

Among the agencies who took part in the mock-exercises were the RCMP, Kootenay-Boundary Regional Fire Rescue, City of Trail, Canadian Red Cross and others.
