Salmo’s garbage containers now bear-resistant

A contractor from Salmo has made it more difficult for bears to get a free meal.

Will Wadsworth has created a lock to convert the village’s 24 garbage containers into bear resistant bins.

The work was done at a fraction of the price of replacing the cans with new ones.

Eight bear sightings have been reported in the area in the past 30 days.
