Should a business vote be added to local elections?

Is it fair that only residents get a vote in municipal elections?
That’s the question being asked by the BC Chamber of Commerce as it works out an advocacy position to present to the Province on introducing a “business vote “.
Nelson Chamber Executive Director Tom Thomson says owners who live out of town play a key role in the economy.
Thomson says it doesn’t seem right that someone who has owned a Nelson business for years gets no say on election issues when a brand new resident does.
