Rossland adopts harsher bear attractant fines

The City Of Rossland will hand out harsher fines for residents who leave bear attractants on their property.

Mayor Kathy Moore says the bylaw which addresses the issue is enforced based on complaints so fines aren’t dealt out often.

She says nine bears were destroyed in the city last year.

City Council unanimously decided to increase the fine from $50 to $100.
