She says the City Of Nelson is participating in their safety partners program ensuring people are aware of the potential hazards around dams or reservoirs.
Schade says water levels can change daily due to electricity demand so it’s best to avoid fishing, boating or swimming near a dam.
Fortis BC owns four hydro-electric facilities on the Kootenay River.
